We didn’t have trouble finding Rolla. It’s a pretty good sized town. Route 66 is tricky here because there are traffic circles (aka roundabouts) and a divided highway.
We’re driving home. After reaching Santa Monica, Paul and I headed to Bay Photo Labs in Scotts Valley, our next over night stop was Reno, Nevada (courtesy of John and Pam Maksimik). Last night was in Saratoga Springs, Utah (courtesy of Jason and Amber Debenham), and tonight we’re at Little America in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
While the Grand Canyon is not right on Route 66, it is only 1 hour north. When you drive Route 66, you might as well take a day and visit the Grand Canyon.
We crossed the continental divide this evening. It was golden hour, and guess what? We took pictures of it as the sun started its final descent.
Nothing like a little sanctioned vandalism first thing in the morning. Sunrise tagging is the thing to do at Cadillac Ranch where 10 Cadillacs are buried with their butts sticking in the air.
MO KS OK in one day. We went from Missouri, through the corner of Kansas and ended in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We covered a lot of miles.
It is hard to believe, but it is only 19 days until we embark on Route 66. Time passes quickly. We are excited.
